I'd have to say Lance wants to send a strong message but so do those other boys (Mayo and Hamilton I mean). I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Mayo delivered the goods in fact for this time trial I think he is better suited. Phonak has a lot of guys other than Tyler riding strong too and I could see one of them make a showing.

Taken straight from cyclingnews.com live coverage:

Cyclingnews spoke to Vaughters at the start today in Bedoin, and he gave us his prognostic:

"My prediction is that the record will be broken and that it will be Mayo who does it," he said. "Whoever beats it will be around 56 minutes flat. I think Armstrong will be second but I think Mayo will beat Armstrong by so much that it'll worry him..."

Vaughters added that "Third place will be some Phonak guy, but not Tyler Hamilton."

You take Lance, I'll take the rest of the field for two tubes. I'm serious.

    Hahaha!
Your on Paul! One condition, if Mayo beats Lance by 30 seconds or less you only get one tube. If he beats him by more then 30 seconds you get 2. Ok? According to Vaughters, Mayo is going to beat him by 2+minutes so this shouldn't bother you

Also, if Lance beats Mayo by 30 seconds or less I only get one tube. If by more then 30 seconds I get 2

Bontrager 60mm X-lite tubes ok with you?

    Deal
You are on! No problem with the conditions. Good thing about the 60mm presta 'cause I use deep dish rims. In fact, I just order three tubes from performance on Monday. If I lose, I'll go to my LBS and buy the bontranger 60's.

I'm out of my office for the next three hours, so I'll check for my winnings when I get back. I'll post my address for you to send the tubes!!!

Velonews just updated their commentary regarding Lance being VERY motivated to get a win and the record on Mt. Ventoux.....uh oh.

    Win or lose Paul
Win or lose Paul, this is funny. Thanks for being a good sport! Don't post your address, just private message eachother after the show is over. If I lose I will just order you some tubes from performance straight to your address....of course if I should win... muhhuhuhuhuhu

Good luck! (carbon110 snickers quietly and muters...your going to need it!)

    =)

GOTCHA !!! Made you look. Yeah, a bet does make this more fun. My only regret is having to leave my computer for two hours. The nerve of some people...wanting me to do my job while a pro cycling race is on! Geez.

Good luck to you and Lance (PaulCL leaving computer with evil grin while weirdly rubbing his hands together and muttering under his breath..."go Mayo, go Tyler"...)

    Well........
I'm not sure, I mean Mayo has been flying for awhile now and his TDF performance will suffer for it. Lance and a few want to hit the olympics which are immediately after the TDF so that is my thought on 2 minutes.

Good show for Tyler and of course Mayo was superb. No one has put 2 minutes on Lance in a TT except Jan

Though, I will admit that I am surprised by the results. I really thought Mayo would squeak by Lance not blow him out of the water. Oh well, Lance's loss is my gain!! I'll private message my address.

Next big race, we can bet again.
