This is an online survey - not a focus group. Yeah - researchers incentivize (pay) respondents to drive to the facility, spend an hour+ in a room with a group of other respondents while a moderator asks questions... and 15 people sit on the other side of the "mirror" and feed questions to the moderator... then drive home. For that 2 hours, they get $100-300 and some candy.

For the fifteen minutes it would've taken you to take that survey, your name would've been entered in a drawing for a $$$ prize. Pretty standard.

Remember, companies do research to make the products we're already interested in even better. They're not big meanie corporations looking to trick you into buying something.

    Yes, that is pretty standard.

So is the slipshod way so many "consultants" do what they do. This is a great example of that. So anyone who uses consultants in general is wise to look under the hood, and monitor the processes along the way. Because ALL final reports are slick and sound authoritative, just like all used cars at a dealership are shiny.
