Will a Light and Motion Vis Pro 360 cut the mustard?

For trail riding at night that is.
I am gonna do some night riding.
Seems like it should be okay, right?

My L&M ARC did just fine with about the same lumes.
    It was HID not LED.
Just seeing that their (light makers) lights are like triple or more of that.
    600 vs 2500 lumes.
    Am I missing something here?

    Cheers

Lumens are the quanitity of light emitted. 2500 vs 600 lumens, is like 4 times as bright. Now the quality, aim, distribution, & life of the 'bulb' are a different thing entirely.

Good! I think I will pull the trigger on a Light & Motion Seca 1800 Race. Was not thinking of aim and distribution of the lamp. REI has these on sale for only $200.

By "trail", do you mean singletrack or a greenway? I have a 650 and a 750 Niterider. Either is more than fine for greenway/gravel/etc., but both are preferred for twisty, fast singletrack. You'll probably want one light on your helmet (to see where you want to go) and one on your bars (to help with confusing shadows) for that sort of riding.

What he said. I did night rides for years. If only 1 light, go helmet, but 2 is preferred. Also.. be nice to your fellow riders.. don't blind them at night... point the light downwards when you stop.

Good point. Either point it down or shield half of the beam/trail with your hand when somebody is coming the other way (runners/walkers especially). Also, if you're on a trail, don't turn your lights on until it's actually dark enough for them to be useful.

Just for comparison sake, a set of car headlights put out approx 2500 lumens.

I ride with 2 lights. Something in the 650-700 range on the handlebars and a 350 on a helmet mount. The helmet mounted headlight helps restore depth perception lost when using just a handlebar mount.
    You can't fix stupid.
