your top 10 favorite bike brands

Rank your top ten favorite bike brands. They can make anything bike related, and they must still be in business. Essentially, these should be companies you feel personally indebted to, that have had a major impact on your enjoyment of cycling, ones that you track in terms on introduction of new products, etc.

    Here's mine:

    Speedplay*
    Continental
    Giro
    San Marco
    Carnac
    Cinelli
    Shimano
    Eddy Merckx
    Chris King
    Columbus

*with props to Time for pioneering the whole "float" thing

I'll go with the enjoyment theme...

...and the many casualties of my trial and error method. I thought, I'd throw in the starting point of my journey to riding and wrenching bliss as well:
    1. Litespeed frames, from Cannondale
    2. Sidi shoes, from Specialized, Nike and Carnac
    3. Campagnolo, from you know what (...you must not speak his name, Harry!!)
    4. Santini bibs, from Biemme, Nalini, Cannondale, Performance, Pearl Izumi
    5. Stella Azzurra stem/bars, from Cinelli
    6. Look carbon pedals, from any other Look pedal
    7. Pedro's Bike lust, from lemon Pledge
    8. handbuilt Ambrosio rims, from Mavic factory wheels
    9. Joe Blow pump, from Specialized and Silca
    10. Voodoo 'cross frame, from complete GT mountain bike
H.M.: Park tools, got this one right from the start...

    My list by brand loyalty

    1. Specialized- because I can actually afford their (very nice) products; Riding a Specialized is better than dreaming of a Merckx. Plus great accessories.
    2. Thomson- seatposts AND stems
    3. Mavic
    4. Michelin
    5. Selle Italia
    6. Dura Ace (haven't tried Campy yet)
    7. 105
    8. Cateye
    9. Bell
    10. Nalini
    10a. Eddy Merckx (one day!)
Pegoretti? Pass the Kool-Aid and don't be stingy...

Even though I know a couple only by name...

To be honest, I've never used a couple of these. They just appeal to me on some level, like Gios blue:

Motobecane (first "real" bike, first century)
Specialized (lots of decent stuff not too expensive)
Rivendell (because Grant dares to swim against the current, and some of his suggestions have prolonged my cycling life)
    Brooks
Diadora (for making size 15 cycling shoes that don't cost $200)
    Bridgestone (that was Grant, too)
Gios (always wanted a Compact Pro)
Blackburn (good racks cheap, showed me how to use a bike as transportation rather than just a toy)
Shimano (probably should be higher--the medium-cheap stuff works great).
And, what the hell, RBR, for putting me in touch with so many knowledgeable people.
