    Atlantic City Pop Festival,

Hands down better than Woodstock musically imo and I was at both.

There was talk about a anniversary concert but it was canceled. Atlantic City was much better anyway.

    I was 16,........
Yep! It really was incredible. BB King for the first time, and I had the chance to take my son to his first BB King show 30 years later, when he was 16.

I once saw a bumper sticker that said "I may be old but I've seen all of the good bands"

FWIW, my dad's mother lived in Philadelphia. Before she passed away in fall 1971, we used to visit her every summer, and we would often go to Atlantic City for a day trip. I remember that year, she decided to not join us, and on the trip down there, traffic was very heavy, and a lot of them were "hippy types" as my mother called them.

In those days, the giant old grand hotels built between 1900-1920 were still open, and were rarely filled. I'd bet that weekend, rooms which hadn't seen usage in years were full, as were the trains and buses headed there.

doesn't sound as good as the planned lineup. gram had already left the byrds and neither cs&n nor the moody blues showed up.
Yossarian: don't worry. nothing's going to happen to you that won't happen to the rest of us.

Debbie Downer. The Moody Blues never did much for me, and the Byrds were never as good as their downstream effects. Still an incredible lineup, but for the raw energy and blooming talent, the Monterey Pop Festival may have rivaled this. And SF probably eclipsed AC as far as the environment. Still, I feel I was born fifteen years too late and would have loved to been able to experience any of these .....
