arkansas ozarks and branson, mo -- summer motorcycle vacation???

ok...once again i'm humbled and confused by the amount of information on the i(n)ternuts, and cannot possibly filter what is spam versus actual real dealz for branson and the surrounding area. blondie and i were thinking about riding from mempho to the area of harrison, arkansas for a few days (four nights) *during the week* in july. searching the tubes, i discovered harrison's proximity to branson. branson looks so bad that it may be good.

so if branson is a major attraction, they ought to have vacation deals, and i'm looking for something awesome where we can sleep cheap. because i'm moderately broke, and like that, relative to somebody who has actual money.

all the while, we're planning an alternate vacation in the other direction in case the weather is all fncked up in ar/mo. so i'm thinking natchez trace, a b&b or two, and a side trip to the space center in huntsville. or maybe just chattanooga.

so spill on branson. and remember, it's a bare bones, one spare change of clothes, travel size toothpaste and share a toothbrush, motorcycle trip.

One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know.

Branson is every bit as cheezy as you fear. That's why you must go.

Can you camp? Lots of Ozarks lakes and forests in the area.

Other nearbys: Eureka Springs, worth a day trip. Buffalo River NP - big valley, scenery, hiking.

    Lots of moto-friendly twisty roads.

    let's party like it's 1999!!!

you can't arrest me; he's a cop! etc, etc, etc..like that.

Um, Harrison, ok, sure...nice roads for that motorcyclin' and river rattin' on the Buffalo (America's First National River!!)

But for real! Eureka Springs is the goods hippy. artsy vibe. Cool old hotel called the Crescent (ghosts and such) good foods! steep, narrow hills!

Branson=yes, why not? Baldknobbers (NTTATWT, erm)! There are a couple fun zip lines, lotsa putt-putt, go kartz, Branson Landing, BASS PRO! old people. lots and lots (not as many as days gone by).

We lived in Rogers, AR for a while. Eureka Springs is great, not least the E. Fay Jones Thorncrown chapel is a must see. I never managed to get to Branson...

I love the secondary roads into the Ozarks--and there are a lot of golf courses, camping opportunities, lakes for fishing/boating. It was THE vacation area for most of the midwest because of the lakes and trees, before everyone started to fly to fancier places.

I think it would be great for a two wheeled adventure--I think the Ozarks are beautiful.

You want cheap? Go to Mt View and Blanchard Spring Caverns. There is a small entry fee to the caverns but in July it will be about 58 inside instead of 115 in the shade outside. Free pick'n and grin'n in the downtown square at Mt View on the weekends. Look for Loco Ropes there too. Folk Center is interesting. Syllamo MTB trail...

Eureka is cool. Branson has lots of cheap rooms but food and everything else will make up for it.
