You're actually not a difficult person to understand, so it must be me. Wait a couple years and see what's coming.

    My initial take.

Ah, the Taycan wagon... bold choice. Will likely be priced around $110K USD. And the Turbo S in the vid is $185K (!).

Not saying these aren't great cars, and I think Porsche's angle positioning these as true high-end EV 'drivers cars' is a good one.

But if you look upthread, I myself was excited about the Taycan in advance of release, but had a few problems with it once I saw some of the details... YMMV:

1- Exterior styling: Toned down quite a bit from the uber-cool Mission E concept. Still looks pretty good, but not striking anymore IMO. Your wagon though is prettier than the sedans.

2 - Price: Base model was supposed to come in at $85K, is instead $105K, and the other models are a sky-high $150 to $185K. Wagon variants should be slightly more. Actually makes Teslas look cheap.

3 - Range: Most of them seem rated around 210-280 miles WLTP, which means 190-240 miles EPA... and EPA is much closer to real-world range than WLTP. This a bit disappointing for such a high-end EV, especially one that begs to be driven hard, further reducing real-world range.

And this is off of big battery packs too, like 93 KWh. Porsche may be handling gurus, but they obviously haven't learned all of Tesla's lessons on EV efficiency.

All that said, it's still quite a good start for a first-gen product from them. And it's forcing Tesla to respond with a more 'track friendly' update to the Model S, due out in late 2020.

Tesla and Porsche will be pushing each other to get better and better and better, which is all good for we, the customer.

Kinda looking at wraps right now. I think I'm not gonna go with this one.

I know a sales rep for a shoe company that put lots of miles on a wrapped van. He said it looked good for about 2 years after which it only looked good from 50 feet away. If you're serious about putting a wrap on a non-commercial car, look into the expected lifespan.

Yeah, looking more into it, wraps are a bit of a pain, and probably not worth it.

Oh, and I think the Model S is still the best thing Iíve test-driven, and by a good margin. Allegedly there are some upgrades imminent, and weíll know more in April, via a Tesla event.

As Iíve said, Iím not in any hurry.

Not anywhere near your class of vehicle, but the wife picks up her 2020 Veloster N Friday. Well under 30k with the performance package to get Road & Tracks performance vehicle of the year. Whether one thinks it's worthy of the title is a whole 'nother matter.

Nothin' wrong with the Veloster... attractive and well-regarded vehicle.

    Congrats!
