About 5 inches of snow this morning here in Connecticut. It should melt fast, though. This is the fifth measurable snowfall since the first of March. It's been an odd, on-and-off winter, with extremely cold snaps alternating with warmer than normal, and dry stretches in between strings of snowstorms. A couple of weeks ago I tried to do a little yard work, since the ground seemed to have thawed, but I hit the hard frozen zone about 10 inches down. We had a spell of very cold weather in January (with little snow cover), and I think the freeze went deep.

More cold, rain and wind here in DC this week. Low 40's forecast for the weekend -- kids have baseball! It just won't end.

I'm close to TOG so I expect the teens for lows this week will affect him also. We are under a winter storm warning, 6-10 inches of snow along with sleet etc. I was able to run 16 and bike 20 miles yesterday, today was a rest day. I hate that we have to go through the storm and the whole melt cycle again, the gravel roads were just getting hardened up and ice-free.

I spent this afternoon cutting firewood.....there was still frost in the ground, enough to get around in the woods with the bobcat.
    Of course I'm sure...that doesn't mean I'm right.....

I don't think I have been on a good ride yet. It was windy the few days that it was warmer out.
    Snow is forecasted tomorrow.

Winter storm warning just north of us. Here’s our forecast

Bizarre. It’s like the calendar seasons no longer apply.

I've had enough decent to good days out that it's become almost unbearable to get on the trainer, but it's gotta be done.

'Sposed to be mostly 30's and wet all week.

I didn't anticipate quite how fast it would melt.

I'm guessing that that made the shoveling easier.

Very observant of you to notice. Good catch.

I like to give them a change of scene occasionally, so I moved them to a different part of the garden. They're getting a bit faded after a lot of years outside, but they still do their part.

Don Featherstone, the sculptor who designed those flamingos in 1957, just passed away about 3 years ago. I think the company that bought the copyrights may be using the original molds.

same here, it's wet heavy snow that I will let nature take care of, sick of shoveling.

15 degrees out there right now, got up early to put wood in the fire!

Pretty sure that I am going to cut and split wood today.

16 degrees here, I'll go for a run, but there will be no biking this weekend. 7 hour drive anyway to Rockford, IL to pick up a shepherd puppy anyway so the day is done did wasted driving.

Last night we walked home from friends, and it was a balmy 54 degrees. After snowing in the morning...

This AM we're back to high 20s...

I want a nice warm up--not yo-yo-ing. Almost 6 weeks ago, I managed to paint a section of outside wall--and now I'm back to shoveling wood into the stove.

    Please make it stop!

This is what I did today, cut 5 bucket loads, hauled, split and stacked 3 before the ground warmed up in the sun and I started making a mess. I will go back first thing tomorrow morning and rescue the other 2 bucket loads.

The shed is full, pretty much but like you, I am still burning.

Yes I'm sure, that doesn't mean I'm right.

I spent the weekend in Michigan with a bunch of good friends that I haven't seen since Sept. We froze our collective asses off for two days and enjoyed every minute of it. No bikes involved but we spent the weekend outdoors.

Good friends trump cold every time.
