Why not get it on the scope. And please advise where one would get one? This particular scope sayes it doesn't work and is not to be put on a mount.

Why? Because most dobs & reflectors don't come equipped with tracking. These are after-market tracking platforms which come in several sizes.
Do an image search on equatorial platforms and you'll get the idea...

Well, I am learning a little more. I found what I think may be a good deal on a nice scope. Orion SpaceProbe II 76mm Altazimuth Reflector Telescope https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0732TBPJW..._XAE.BbPB7S94G

I'm thinking it would be nice to see some details on the nearer planets. I can forgo the portability if I'm being advised to get nice binoculars anyways to take to glacier.

For another $100, what an hour or two of work....

and you can get this.... something that actually will work and track!

    https://www.amazon.com/Orion-StarBla...elescope&psc=1

for another $30 you can get one with a motorized tracking.....

    That is it!

I'm really starting to Jonez on the OneSky concept (with nearly half proceeds supporting AWB) and it might well lend itself to "unauthorized" mods in the future (which is what any real astronomer is likely to do with other scopes).

Now, please don't harsh my mellow by telling me that it's assembled by child slave labor in China (cuz I might drop the two dimes in January).
