As cyclists, do we take ourselves too seriously?

I sometimes wonder if we take our hobby too seriously...

We ride bicycles...granted most of us ride very nice bicycles but they are still just bikes..

For some reason this thread really got to me..The OP was real proud of his accomplishment and he got slammed for it...

maybe I'm taking the replies too serious

I've never really thought of myself as a cyclist.

That's good, 'cause I don't really think of most people on this board as cyclists.

I once got a big lecture about how stupid I was for buying a Bianchi Boron XL frame. The Internet experts told me I was a fool and his money soon parted. You see, that frame had a cracking problem. When I pointed out that I'd spent $300 NOS, well, that quieted them down a bit.

Having read that thread, all I can say is you have to consider the sources. I mean Kerry knows so much that his head is about to explode and so he can't even begin to understand why anyone would do anything that he didn't think of. I'm sure he's forgotten more than I'll ever know.

On the Internet everyone is an expert and there are no restraints preventing them from showing it. I don't think that we as cyclists take ourselves too seriously, I think a lot of people take themselves seriously regardless of their hobby.

You'd be better off with a netbook, they do everything better.

That tandem would be insanely fast with two strong riders on it.

If you think those posts are bad, did you ever read the Politics Only section? Now that will make your head spin, and that's without drinking alcohol.
