    Deadwood Movie.

Just noticed that HBO has a new Deadwood movie coming out at the end of May. Looks like all the main characters will be in it.....Only problem....All the characters are 15 years older.
If your opinion differs from mine, ..........Too bad.

Fans of it probably won't care. Twin Peaks was brought back 25 years later. X-Files? 15+ years.

Heck, I'd be a-okay if they brought back, say, Firefly or Buffy now, 15+ years after the fact.

Fans just want what they want.

I hope they don't screw it up. That was a great show. Such a shame it got canned.

This is prolly more indicative of outlets scrambling for content.

We thought the apex was 500 channels on cable, but now, each channel has sub channels et al. There are rumors of a "Fraiser" reboot with the surviving cast which would prolly do quite well in the streaming world whereas network or cable would pass.

I even here of a reboot of "Game of Thrones", only this time, with dragons.

A few years ago we had the pleasure of passing through Yankton. The original territorial legislative buildings still stand. We stopped to look and my wife and I immediately looked at each other and only said one word. “[email protected]
Just because you won't listen to reason does not mean I have to listen to idiocy.

It takes place 10 years after we left them. My favorite, Dan Dority is back.

yeah...while I enjoy profanity as much as the next guy, Deadwood's dialogue left me numb after a short while...seemed like lazy script-writing.

I had it DVR'd since it first aired.

My wife and I, who watched and enjoyed Deadwood the series, finally got up the nerve to watch it last night.

We bailed out after about 20 minutes.

    1. We kept seeing the characters we knew and trying to figure out what their status was when we left them 10 years ago... and what their motivation is 10 years hence. This kind of thought-provoking stuff is NOT conducive to creating and maintaining suspension of disbelief.

    2. The dialogue, which was always stilted and profane in a unique and enjoyable way during the series... was too stilted in the movie, and the profanities seemed too unnatural. It all seemed so forced and ham fisted. In the movie, there were phrases uttered by characters which were almost unintelligible do to the syntax and diction, which at times sounded like a bad parody of Shakespeare. There were a few statements by Senator Hearst that sounded like dialogue written for Yoda.

    3. In the movie, I tried not to notice how old and slow some of my all-time favorite TV series characters had gotten. At one point, my mind wandered to the sad reunion Return to Gilligan's Island. I couldn't stop thinking about how awful it was, in its own way, seeing Gilligan dressed in his clowny sailor uniform, with gray hair and wrinkles all over his elderly face.

My wife and I both agreed that it was best if we turned it off and avoided any further damage to the memory of a great HBO TV series.

And now, a message to the creators of the great TV content we have loved in the best series ever broadcast: Please don't do this again.

Please, spare us a reunion movie for The Wire, please no Six Feet Under TNG, no Sopranos prequel (oops, too late), etc, etc.

    OK, I'm finished.

    Sorry I blew up.
