Its a bike more like what the average rider needs. Bigger tires, more comfort. Absurd pricetag making us think its all that and a cup 'o beans.

If I worked at a trek dealer, I'd probably buy one to flog. Looks like a prime gravel bike!

I like the fact that they took Volagi's seat tube/seatstay concept (separate them for comfort), changed the look a little, and claimed it as their own. Trek never, ever does that....nope....

"Cobblestones" are a good comparison to the roads where I live. Large potholes in spring, big bumps from crappy pothole-patching in summer and fall.

Trek is a slick IP thief. Their ABP (active braking pivot) suspension system is also a rip-off from Dave Weagle's split-pivot system. Story is that Dave Weagle came to Trek with his split pivot idea, and after a period of honeymoon, Trek said they weren't interested. Apparently Trek modified the split pivot a bit and patented a "new" and revolutionary system in the ABP.

I will never buy a Trek. F*** them.

Sidenote: the patent office in the US is a joke. They'll issue patents to pretty much anything. All the big guys with money and lawyers can just go around and legally steal stuff by modifying either the idea and/or semantics a bit. The patent system is supposed to protect true IP's, but it looks like it's there to allow the big guys with money and lawyers to rape the small guys and corner the market. No small guy is going to have the money to ligate against the likes of Trek and Specialized!

Did you all notice how freaking fugly the mock-up is in the Project one application? There must be 40mm of spacers under that freaking stem.
Trying to make it appealing to the projected customer, since that's the set up most buying the bike will use.

That was the first thing that crossed my mind..... As it so happens the chief engineer (town group) is a pretty good friend of mine. (And a hell of nice guy) I'll mention that to him next time I see him and see what he says.

edit: from the description, it appears that there is a type of "joint/bearing" between the seat tube and triangle intersection.
    Of course I'm sure...that doesn't mean I'm right.....
