    extra....extra....lounge socks save riders life

My good-luck lounge socks saved my life again today. I was JRA and looking down at my rear gears and the road turned and I didn't. The shoulder was steep and loose gravel...I kept my head and didn't touch the brakes and rode it out into the 3 foot tall grass.

    whew........no curse on the socks
    Of course I'm sure...that doesn't mean I'm right.....

P.S. I wore my Lounge kit today. No flats! Only a busticated headset.

    Campy record.

    Those danged eye-talians!

Long story. Thought I had it solved last year. Came loose again today. Little shards of carbon steerer in the bearings, great. Juuusssst great.

Cleaned it all up, put the thing back together and seems "OK" for now. LBS guy called Trialtir (De Rosa importer) and they think it's a faulty top cap. Would be nice if it turns out to be so simple. Taking it in Monday AM.

Anyway, will get it sorted out. May need new headset, we'll see.

If you had the DA gear indicator, this never would have happened.

Buying parts to hang on your bike is always easier than getting fit.

It doesn't matter what gear i am in as long as it is the right one, I was looking at the cage alignment, it was making a little noise. When I stopped I did take the opportunity to twist the barrel adjuster an 1/8 turn or so.

New bike, new wheels...just trying to get it dialed in. I still haven't put new Campy cables on it and the ones I have are not the best.

Sweet moves! Maybe stop first then check gears next time? I'm not sayin...I'm just sayin. Its not like you could make any adjustments whilst riding anyways. I have a bad habit of looking around at my bike junk while I'm riding, dunno what I'm hopen to find down there.

sure I could, I can reach my down tube adjusters just fine. Riding is the BEST time and place to do it......as long as the road doesn't do anything stupid like turning

I think that counts toward the curse.

If I'm not mistaken that puts you at 1 flat tire and 1 headset.

    Draw your own conclusions.

    Mine is safely stored away.
