Spent Saturday cleaning dirt and spiders off the kayaks we kept under the deck. Went kayaking for first time in 4 years on Sunday. It was fun.

First time in a small boat for our 3-year-old, unfortunately by the time we got in the water it was just about fussy nap time. But he still had some fun before we called it quits.

Probably about 4-6 hours of prep work for 1 hour of kayaking. But we're already going out again next weekend.

My work gloves have a hole in them. Can you guys make some recommendations to replace a pair of Mechanix Wear Impacts?

I always buy the cheapest work gloves that Ace Hardware has. And then after about 6 months they have holes in them and need to be replaced. So I go back to Ace Hardware and buy the cheapest ones there. You would think at some point I would use my brain and buy nicer gloves....but I don't. It is a mystery indeed.

    Gloves?

I used to buy GoJo for when I was doing work that gets hands greasy. Then I bought a box of disposable heavy duty rubber (neoprene?) gloves at Harbor Freight Tools. Life changing. No more GoJo.

Since I retired the pile of work gloves that my employer had "given me" is dwindling.

I avoid Saturday morning auto build shows.

I've tried going that route but after about fifteen minutes in those gloves, my hands are soaking wet. I still use the gloves when I'm mincing fresh jalapenos for my salsa.

It didn’t hit me right away. I immediately washed my hands twice after handling the peppers. I then proceeded to stir them around a bit with a spoon to make sure they changed color like one recipe said they would. It was while I used a pair of tongs to transfer the jalapeños from the pot to a jar that I felt the first hints of warmth building in my hands. I completed the transfer, then washed my hands a couple more times for good measure. This only seemed to make it worse.

I really thought this story was going to end with you on the water, in the middle of the lake, when you discovered a giant-assed spider in the kayak that you missed (like Huntsman Spider sized).

    Thanks for nothing.

For light duty I'm finding Finish Line Mechanic's Gloves durable, cleanable, and a darn good deal at $5.
