Hobbies and other activities that take all your money

These are the things I "collect" or do as a hobby:

    Bikes
    Guns/shooting
Audio - as in high end stereo equipment
    Guitars
    Play golf

And I wonder where all of my money goes - yikes.

To be honest, I sold the boat a few years back. It wasn't terribly big, about 20'. We used it often enough, but all the adages were true: hole in the water, 2 best days, etc. What I'm thinking of doing next summer is buying a small boat in April or May, using it for June - July, then putting it back up for sale in August.

    Cycling -- huge money pit
    Little League baseball
    Fun stuff with kids
    Home projects
    Computer/electronics

Used to have a 150 gal marine aquarium -- ate me alive. Probably spent $5,000 on start up and then $200 a month maintenance (plus gobs of electricity for lights and pumps). Seemed like it always needed some gizmo or chemical or something, and everything, including the fish, was expensive. Hurts to have a $400 fish croak on you. Huge time investment, too.

'Ameyakocho', Ueno in Tokyo. I can pick up Patagonia stuff real cheap out of season. Like right now. (Insert 'sweating' icon here).

    Home renovation
    Tools for above

Not really a hobby--but I think that's where every spare dollar has gone in the past two years. Thank Dog I had a stash of bike parts and tires 'cause I haven't had more than $100 to spend on cycling over the same period.

    Home improvements
    Landscaping/gardening
    Driving around

We upgraded the HVAC, still need to fix the roof, got a leaky cast-iron drainpipe......

Can't stop visiting the garden centers and buying plants. This way, I can see what works and where.

Driving around isn't so much a hobby, and the car isn't a *huge* expense, but cars in general are such money-leeching devices.

Right now, the airbag light is blinking; oh it's being recalled, no money to be spent, great. Turns out the car was already brought in for the recall a few months ago. So it's a whole different ($$$) problem after all. Grrr! Plus, it needs shocks.

I have to limit my hobbies.

    cycling (duh)
    gardening
    photography
home audio (not done anything with for a few years)
motorcycles (again, not done anything. Roads are too flat and straight to have fun here)
