I drove a car backwards on railroad tracks in the snow

Long story short - my office window overlooks an upscale shopping center parking lot with train tracks bisecting a corner of it, crossing over the small entrance road. I look out yesterday afternoon and a car is on the tracks - not crossing the tracks, but driving down them. Lady must have got confused on where the entrance road was. She stops, decide she can not back, so continues on thinking she will get to, and on, the entrance road. 6" lip at the road, combine with lots of snow, prevents that. She is now really stuck. I go out to help, call 911, etc. We can't budge car either way. Shopping center maintenance guy shows up with sand and shovel, but woman, shaken up and deeply embarrassed, asks if anyone else wants to drive the car. Why not! We free the car and decide best option is for me to drive backwards the 40 yards or so to the main road. Oh, the tracks are active. I manage to drive more or less a straight back and free the car. Woman hugs me, continues on to her appointment at the salon.

    First!

That, sir, qualifies as an official Good Deed for Christmas--I'd say at least 50 karma points with the Christmas elves...

I've often though while Christmas shopping & getting clipped by grocery carts--"all these people drove here." Hmmnnn....

Good for you! It's good to see that some people still make an effort to help others.

    Merry Christmas.

    Was she hot?

Nice work. I'll bet there were a bunch of people standing around and watching by then, but good for you for doing something.

spudbiker has been known to exaggerate.

I think what really happened is his hot wheels got stuck in a crack in the sidewalk, and he panicked.

unfortunately she was not hot. she gave me a hug after it was all over, but it was like a mother hug. I disengaged pretty quickly.

Well, duh, anyone who posts in the Lownge has "issues"

By the way, sounds like good fun, maybe more so, if a train had come around the bend

I asked for pictures. He said he has to get them developed, whatever that means (photoshopped)
