I would head back down the driveway to take some "drift" pictures, but it ain't fit for man nor beast out there. I plowed most of the area around 9 but I decided the bottom of the drive would be futile as it was drifted at LEAST chest deep for well over a 100 feet and it would have drifted back in before anyone needed to get out. I just walked down to check again and I would say it is chin deep on me now. It's going to require some SERIOUS excavation to get it opened back up. I suppose I'll get it tonight IF the 40 to 50 mph winds from the N NW subside. if not I'll be out there at 4:30 tomorrow morning..
    Of course I'm sure...that doesn't mean I'm right.....

Yea, the young dogs thought it was fun for a few minutes. The old dog went out, peed where I had shoveled, and scooted right back in. Utter nonsense in his eyes I tell ya. Best to stay inside and relax.

Tell me again why anyone would choose to live someplace with that much snow?

I grew up in South Dakota; we get a little there, occasionally. Blech!

80* and sunny here. Goin' for a ride.

It goes away every year with little fanfare here in Ontario. We have no Hurricanes or brush fires very rare to get a tornado, have never seen a flood. So I guess 120'' of snow is tolerable for 4 months.

Not sure, guessing 4" so far but it's been on and off since yesterday. We had more wind than Freeport, but they had the blizzard warning. (?) If what we had came straight down, it'd be more than 4"...

Suck factor: Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist John White was giving a lecture on his exhibit in Chicago today, and he doesn't do a lot of shows. Not really excited about a mile-long walk from the train or driving into the city today.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I love 4 seasons. I also can't stand long oppressive summer heat. I usually ride 9 months out of the year, and the rest is either skiing or snowshoeing. I'd rather live somewhere that gets lots of snow, than to live where it gets in the 90's for months on end. Christmas lights on a palm tree is just too funny also

my daughter called this morning, she ended up staying on campus last night (Stevens Point) because the 50 mph headwind and foot and a 1/2 of snow made her nervous, LOL
She informed me that the tires i gave her are only good for up to two or 3 inches of snow..........well duh.... (kenda kross 27 x 1 3/8)

No blizzard for me this weekend. They were originally saying we could get up to a foot of snow, but we never got more than a few inches of blowing snow.

    +1.

What I don't like are high winds that blow my charcoal chimney onto the driveway BEFORE the 18" hit.

lace and i just walked down the driveway to check out the drifted section and all I can say is....oh crap. I am looking at a good 150 feet of 4 to 5 foot deep drifts, the snow was wet and heavy when it came down and the temps are down to the mid teens now and slated to drop to -5 with wind chills to -25 to -30. as it is now Lace was walking on the top of the snow....

I was considering plowing tonight bu that would still be futile. I guess my only option is to wait until morning and my wife and sister HAVE to get out for work. We have lived here for 27 years and this is probably the worst I have ever seen the driveway. I got a 6 foot x 3 foot snow bucket and a rear blade but I am guessing it will take me 2 hours just to dig that mess out of there. The rest of the driveway (the other 900 feet) is still pretty good from this morning. Tomorrow is going to be a LONG day!
    Of course I'm sure...that doesn't mean I'm right.....
