    why is there a sugar packet in my "Kit, First Aid"?

    First treatment given in the field for hypoglycemia is an amp of D50, or sugar. It won't hurt someone, and if they are hypoglycemic, may reverse their symptoms.

    Glucose tablets are better than sugar. It's the glucose that brings the blood sugar back up, not the extraneous fructose that you get from the sugar.

    maybe its just for the emergency cup of coffee?

    Do you carry any kind of first aid kit while commuting? whats in it?

    glucose is a type of sugar, as is galactose, fructose, etc.etc.etc. Most first aid kits don't make the distinction. Dextrose is actually the fastest way to bring up blood sugar, but I was keeping things simple....
