he was 72 and died at home in his sleep.

i guess there are worse ways to go ... like being over 92 and dying in prison.

Prison will now be her assisted living center.

I was just thinking the other day that prison might be a good retirement plan when the money runs out. 3 square meals and a bed, health care, occasional visits from family and TV. What else do you need when your really old?

That depends on your age. In the movie, The Rock (1996), John Patrick Mason (played by Sean Connery) describes his time in jail which "avoiding gang rape in the washrooms... Though that's less of a problem these days. Maybe I'm losing my sex appeal."

No kidding. But I kind of get why there's a need to be in an assisted facility. Just to belong...

On a lighter side, I've heard this about 90 something.
    Quote:

Aging Mildred was a 93 year-old woman who was particularly despondent over the recent death of her husband Earl.

She decided that she would just kill herself and join him in death.

Thinking that it would be best to get it over with quickly, she took out Earl's old Army pistol and made the decision to shoot herself in the heart since it was so badly broken in the first place.

Not wanting to miss the vital organ and become a vegetable and burden to someone, she called her doctor to inquire as to just exactly where the heart would be.

"On a woman," the doctor said, "your heart would be just below your left breast."

Later that night, Mildred was admitted to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her knee.

I'm confused, if she doesn't want to go into a home, who's she gonna live with now??

Do they put 94-year-olds in jail? Might be preferable to a nursing home.

I don't see any other family member wanting to post the $500,000 bail and bring her home
