nerd computer games: age of emprires, age of myths, rise of nations. need rec's.

i haven't played since AOE came out in '96 (has it been that long???).

my fav's were AOE, dune, dune 2000, warcraft I and II, and starcraft.

read about AOM and RON, but ain't played a lick.

i'm looking to get back into playing a little, and they appear to be pretty cheap on amazon.com (<$25).

anybody clue me in as to what sux's and what's the b0mb?

    LOL...now that is old school.

AOE III is a pretty good game. I got it for my son for Christmas and ended up playing it a bit since.

For that you'll have to hookup the accoustic coupler, dial into WOPR and ask it to play a game of Thermonuclear War. (after you find the right # with your powerdialer program, that is)

Make sure you have plenty of ammo and MREs, just incase WOPR gets carried away.

Former in the Closet Strategy based game player...

For my Mac I have Age of Mythology. Good fun with mythic creatures and good culture mix. On my lap top I have Civ III and Age of Empires. Civ III has now been replaced by Civ IV and has many an upgrade. I like all of these games and the major difference is turn based on the Sid Meir's games and the real time based games of Myth and Empire. Go to Gamespot.com for info on all of the strategy based games they give really good reviews and appear to be honest.

Civilization IV. Very high review scores, many game of the year nomiations and stuff, and cause of numerous-- "oh crap, it's 2AM" moments for me.

If you liked Warcraft 1+2, WC 3 seems like a pretty logical progression. It's a few years old, and should be dirt cheap with the expansion pack. Echo the sentiments about civilization, I haven't played 4, but if it's better than 3, it's damn good.

I loved Civ II and AOE. I have Civ III but was never quite able to get in to it.

I would love it if I could find games that were as good as these two. I have the original Warcraft. That was a fun one too.

I was stuck on Battlefield 2 for months. Awesome game... I had to give it up because I wasn't doing anything else. This summer though... back to it!
