Pitiful drowned rat...but she smells much better!
She always reminds me of an Ewok after she dries off.

No surprises the next morning either.

So no matter who you are, what you look like, or how far you think you are from your goal kit up and get started. Your friends are out there, waiting for you.

We had to say goodbye to our greyhound 2 weeks ago.
We put it off as long as possible, but when quality of life drops below a certain point, the best thing is to end the pain. At almost 14, Catunda Kate (her racing name) had outlived most greyhounds. Lately, we had to help her just to stand up sometimes, and she couldn't always hold her bowels until she got outside. We couldn't keep weight on her. She had been in pain even with the med's.

She was born in Ireland. Her father was the only dog to win both the Irish and English Derbies. She raced there, then moved to the East cost and raced tracks like Wheeling Downs in WV as well as Florida before moving here to race. After she retired, she had two litters. We adopted her when she was 7 1/2 years old. I've tracked a few of her pup's and grand children to see them become successful open class racers.

We've run across many greyhounds, and I honestly have never seen one as sweet as Kate. I was petting her and giving her treats she loved for those last few hours. She will be missed dearly.

    Her last day...

    The Official Pet Photo Thread...

Sorry, Tig. Our pups are with us for far too short a time. She sounds like a sweetie.

Similar but no, they are both rat terriers.

We had been without a dog for six-months after the passing of Ellie. Until last night that is. Eight weeks of spoodle (springer spaniel / poodle cross) and yet to be named...

Sir Barksalot, riding in the car barking at everything....he likes to pretend he's catching passing cars in his teeth. Hard to describe but hilarious to see. If it's a big truck though, he just barks at it.

Our boy likes to eat fresh cukes and radishes right out of the garden, in fact he is steals so many we may need a fence to keep him out next year. Thankfully he doesn't like peas or beets.

We adopted a dog from the city animal shelter "BARC" (a surprisingly first rate place) back in May. She was rescued along with 50 other dogs from a puppy mill. She was just a day off of spay surgery and looked a mess, but we could tell she needed a home more than most of the others. She warmed up pretty quick so we knew she was the right one.

Meet Maggie May, the French Poodle.
    Before the first night's grooming:

    2 weeks later:

She's learned to get along with the other 3 dogs and cats and absolutely loves her human family and new home. I'm not a poodle fan, but she has stolen my heart!

Tig: What a difference in her! Stories of those puppy mills are so sad. If only people would stop buying from pet stores and on the web. .

Nooky: It looks like he is taking a hunting stance. Does it take a lot of skill to catch a cuke?

    Both are beautiful dogs!

Gorgeous poodle, love that color!! And even more gorgeous that she's a rescue. The animal business can be pretty horrible.
