It's been a while since posting in this thread, sorry it's not Thursday

Just over a year ago we lost our beautiful Shepherd Jacques. Two months ago we lost his best buddy Maverick the black Lab, they essentially grew up together. Last summer I lost my cat of 18 years Luna. This morning we are putting our beautiful Shepherd Sophia to sleep, the cancer has finally triumphed. We thought she would be gone well over a year ago, but she is a fighter, up until Friday walking in the woods with us despite being fully blind and weak as water. We are left with a Shepherd named Ella, who we got a year ago today, and Bachardi, our almost 7 year old Shepherd mix. Thankfully Ella and Bachardi get along well, but a 14 month old Shepherd can be a handful, so much energy.

Good Friday we are picking up our new English black Lab puppy, as of yet unnamed. I suggested Porter, the wife likes Fitz. We are buying a puppy with good health record and lineage this time around, and taking a break from rescuing an older dog. Most of you don't know that we like to rescue older Shepherds that no one else wants; it is very rewarding, but it comes with a lot of heart ache. We are getting another puppy because we want some joy in our house for a change, instead of always having a dog on the verge of leaving us.

Sorry for the rant, as soon as I get up from my PC and get dressed we are going to take care of Sophia, and I have been dreading it since she is my girl. Shepherds are very loyal, and to let go of my beautiful girl is very hard.

Jacques and Maverick, Bachardi, Sophia, Ella at 9 weeks.

First pic of the new puppy, he's just under 7 weeks. Hopefully he will have a big beautiful head, and likes to swim.

Now, before you read me the riot act, I knew heavy snows were coming but I fell asleep. On the plus side, It was relatively warm and she had 4 separate cedar chip lined dog houses to choose from AND she was priority one on the day's shovel.

    That was my old Civic.

There used to be another house next to mine and the snow drifted in an odd way.

Picked up Amos today, he's a stocky little guy. He's friendly and he has spunk and curiosity we think he'll fit right in with our other two dogs.

When they run and lose step, roll, crash, wrinkle after wrinkle folding, you have to hug and kiss their non-successes.

The wife made the call on the name, I was fine with Porter. Nothing like being woken up by a dog chewing on your ears and eye brows, he slept on the wife's pillow last night. They are only little for such a short time, then they just turn into dogs.

Searching through old photos burned to CDs, I came across a pic of Momma Kitty.

Ironically, the pic was where I'd least expected to find it...

Not long after my first dog died at 16, a co-worker discovered an abandoned puppy near her home and offered it to me. What I found was a scrawny, hairless 3 month old with the biggest heart. I named him Cylo but Cy is what stuck.

After a vet visit, the scope of his plight was revealed. While he had no untreatable disorder, his size was due to having nearly every possible parasite, hairless because of mange. This is what I got after treatment.

A few months after, the Ex & I got serious and picked up 3 AKC Dobermans (2 female, male would go to MIL) This one was Kagemusha, shortened to Musha!

Cy & Musha were absolute bests but she was only with us for 6 years before succumbing to cancer.

Cy would sleep outside during driving rain then not understand why he'd have to go to the garage or basement.

He had another playmate, Brandy, an Irish Setter. She belonged to MIL who could no longer care for her because of the dog's health issues.

I believe he was 12 or 13 when he passed. Brandy was already 10 and was with us for 2 more years.

Our puppy from last year has grown up to be such a beautiful girl, and she loves to take care of the new puppy. He's slower than we'd like to pick up potty training, but he's no shepherd ;)
