    the older I get

the more my "free will" is corrupted by the "modern" world.

Phone emitting all manner of sounds this side of a simple "ring". Varied chirp, razzies and viberations.

Computer screaming for me to "action" or warning of impending "doom".

TV programing that has me checking my phone or computer when a character's phone or computer screams for them to "action" or warning of impending "doom". Then, all the different chirps we moving thru menus.

And, my Mack Daddy... my medical alert pendant that "detects" a fall every my a break wind (almost) requiring me to tell "call center" I am upright!

Yesterday, a battery charger had me happy the 9mm was packed up as I hunted for the "new" source of "beeps". Of course, rooting around for the source triggered a fall detect.

Remember the good old days when we had/need one ring on your land line, the only sirens came from emergency vehicles and your TV signed off at 11:15PM?

    QUIET!!!

But in the old days when you fell you just had to scream that you had fallen and couldn't get up.

In the time of battle you don't rise to the occasion you resort to the level of your conditioning...

Just wait until you lose your hearing. Then, the problem is solved.

After a fall, us oldsters can't scream for more than a hour or we pass out from the pain...

The older I get, the more often I sadly realize that the idiots you knew as a kid just get older. They don't get smarter, more reasonable, or more upstanding. Just older.
