Your problem is common in your age bracket. Diminished appetite, problems putting on weight. If you want to put on weight, eat more, and do what it takes to get yourself to eat more over the course of a day. Eating more will expand your stomach, making it easier to eat more over time.

Or I could stay thin regardless of what I eat just to annoy my wife?

Funny, I was 5' 6" until the last doctor visit, where they measured me at 5' 5-1/2".

Life is so cruel like that- weight goes up (for normal people), height goes down.

I would suggest moving less and eating more calories. Cream in the coffee, butter on the toast, nuts, basically more fats. Sugar is unhealthy and fat is healthy in 2019, who knows what "they'll" say next year.

Also might help to do what the TdF riders do, and that's wake up in the middle of the night to snack. It's almost 1:30am and I just had some graham crackers.

Moving less isn't an option. For example, woke up yesterday morning, and split, hauled and stacked most of a cord of wood. The day before it had been incredibly windy and a big tree went down so I cut it up, seeing as is was scheduled to snow yesterday afternoon/evening, I wanted to get it all done to avoid having to slog around in the mud to get it all done.

Your laptop would blow away here. 31 degrees, gusting to 45 mph.

A blizzard is supposed to hit here this morning, expecting another foot of snow. Winter can end any time now... thank you.

If you changed your eating regimen to eating as much as I like you would definitely gain weight.

Sounds like you need to heed the tale of a cyclist when it comes to drinking water. Don't wait to eat until your hungry. Eat small, but multiple times a day.
    You can't fix stupid.

Those two (bold) are part of the reason. You are one of those who (are blessed) can afford to eat carb. Especially for cyclists, it helps. Splurge on it. Also, breakfast is needed for those with your weight issue. I'm like that too.
I know that is not optimal but that what my body prefers.
Your body will adapt to change. Start with small amount and slowly increase the amount.

I eat 5 small meals a day. It works well.

Have you tried weight training? Not only it will increase strength and size, it will increase your appetite too.

Maybe Little Chocolate Donuts? Belushi was pretty active, but maintained his girth with this breakfast: https://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-l...e-donuts/n8655

Me too [no political pun intended]. I start out early season eating like a mouse. By mid summer, I'm never hungry. I can go almost 24 hrs without think of food, easily. Offseason it comes back gradually, but never like fellow friends. I can spend 2 hours at the table eating what the rest woofed down in minutes. I never had an appetite as a child. Those hunger emzynes that communicate to the brain from the stomach never produced anything. My mom said I spent more time looking at her jewely then the bottle of formula as an enfant. I never rejected anything, ...I just never really was very hungry. Both our daughters are the same, somewhat. Very vinergar based attraction, not sugar. I could eat 4 avocados or 3 well ripened tomatos before a slice of bread. Strange. Late season my stamina would plumet as the miles piles on. I understand.

Yes sir.... Acid based, never have been much for sweets or candy. I don't care much for bread either but can wolf down a pretty good pile of pasta.
