    Sandy Eggo and SoCal Peeps...

I know you love tourists Nd hate when we stick around forever, but hotpants I wanna stay here. even the *bucks is better somehow. not sure if it's the lack of wind, perfect temperature ALL THE DAMN TIME, the sanfran music mix or fact the coffee was somehow .40 cheaper than in Illinois. I think if I stumble on a peets I might submit an application. heck, I might. It a bike just to kill myself on the hills here.

Will be in LA Sunday night next to LAX then it's back to flatlandia.
    Maybe...

Since you apparently don't speak English, you'll fit in just fine out here.

I can cruise down to LAX on Sunday night. Maybe HW and some other locals, too.

we are hangin out with The Wifes friend. the hotel we are in is off 163 and balboa. We beached at Torrey pines and then pacific beach yesterday. Today we are the fat Midwesterners at the pool. Sunday is Legoland and then driving to the Crown Plaza at LAX. Not sure what time we will be landing there. I would need permission to get away Sunday night. It might happen but I'm not sure.

... You said "sanfran." I would expect nothing more of someone who thinks SoCal is a cool state.

I'm born and raised in the San Diego area. This place is full of people from somewhere else who visited and ended up staying. I enjoy the mix.

And there's no way I could ever live anywhere that didn't offer authentic carne asada, machaca or chorizo at a reasonable price.

I might be the only person in the universe who didn't care for San Diego. I'm positive that it was because I was going through my divorce while I lived there, but I could not freakin' wait to get out of there.

I've been down there a couple times since and it still gives me the willies, from Carlsbad all the way in. Blech. I'm sure that says a lot more about me than it does San Diego.

I liked living near-ish LA much, much better.

Anyway, hope your family is having a good, relaxing time, Welty. You deserve it.

I just moved back up to Northern California after living in SD (Ocean Beach) for the past 2+ years......

If it wasn't for my job, I would move right back to OB in a heart beat.....hell, I think besides Italy, there isn't really any other place I would rather be. For me it was perfect.

Rest assured that you aren't. I spent 3 years in SoCal and a fair amount of that time was in SD and it's suburbs. It was OK and I made the best of it but it certainly wasn't for me.....far too many people for my tastes and that was 20 years ago. I can only imagine how much more crowded it is now. Unlike you though, I disliked LA even more than SD.

One of the things that I really hated about SoCal was the lack of seasons. Strange as it may seem to many people I like winter and I was very happy to return to where I could experience it yet again.

Well, I lived in the Ventura area which made it easy to experience LA on my terms without having to deal with it every day. I probably would've hated living in the city proper.

I thought sanfran was preferred over frisco. I thought it went the city > sanfran > frisco.

I say San Francisco. Never "frisco".

The problem with "sanfran" is that you're still missing a few syllables. If you don't want to say all four syllables of San Francisco, you can shorten it to "the city."
