So exactly WHERE DID everyone go?

I'm not on -any- social media including Teh Book of Face. So where did everyone go on FB exactly? Is there one main page on that FB machine??? IDK.

I think that a lot of the cranks from PO just ended up yelling at traffic from their porches.....

    No....

#1) Book of Face drew off a bunch of people.

#2) Completely absent forum admins ignoring users WRT ads and useless sidebar ticked off more

#3) The forum repeatedly being rendered completely unusable by mass forum-spammers that NO ONE was around to stop did all the rest.

PO had nada to do with it.

The RBR decline starting with the vanquishing of the Podiums Girls section.

It's a sad state of affairs when the vile and vulgar ideology of Politics Only is allowed to flourish at the expense of the sexually exploitative nature of Podium Girls.

    That said, I'd hit it!

I like the paceline more than this one. I check in from time to time. But I donít have much to add to the political stuff. And I donít see much more here.

Weight weenies also has more bike content. I open tapatalk because I donít want to read about politics.......

PO had nada to do with it?

I check New Posts when I log in.

On a typical day, under new posts, about 9 out of 10 are PO.

RBR is a politics forum with a side of bikes.

Nope, it didn't. Everyone else gave up fighting the forum spammers. You've been here since 2007, you should remember. The inmates in PO have known each other too long to give up that easily. Also, forums generally are losing lots of traffic compared to other flavors of social media. Why ask a question on a cycling forum when you'll just end up linked to a GCN video on YouTube anyway?

These days everyone kvetches about the lack of bike content....and, themselves, seldom or never make any bike content. It doesn't help that a website ostensibly about "Bike Reviews" hasn't had meaningful content added to the review pages in about 12 years.

Wah wah wah there's no bike content! But god forbid I actually do anything to make any bike content! Please! Someone else do something about the thing I'm too lazy to do anything about!

Retro Grouch -- I'm fine with all the politics on this site. Maybe it's because RBR'ers spend so much time alone with their thoughts pedaling down the road, but this joint has some impressively savvy, articulate contributors. It never fails to be insightful and entertaining. No matter what the subject matter may be.
Mapie is a conventional looking former Hollywood bon viveur, now leading a quiet life in a house made of wood by an isolated beach. He has cultivated a taste for culture, and is a celebrated raconteur amongst his local associates, who are artists, actors, and other leftfield/eccentric types. I imagine he has a telescope, and an unusual sculpture outside his front door. He is also a beach comber. The Rydster.

I'm still gonna blame PO; it's a libbie plot, like expanding bike commuting (cf. https://forums.roadbikereview.com/po...ot-374261.html

Always felt Podium Girls and Politics Only shouldíve been combined into one forum.

What's with all the damb cycle threads in New Posts?

    Seriously.

I can barely find any PO content in New Posts today.

like others have said, too much political crap, not enough bikes - a look at the Signatures and Profile pictures including a moderator in this thread gives a great clue, too many people pushing a hate of others political views. Lots of name calling and arguing over stupid stuff. Politics often steps out of the PO forum into threads.

We get an occasional new person show up and they are often attacked as stupid for their questions or put down so why would they stick around? People here are often rude, and don't care.

I look go to another forum on a regular basis and don't see any of this, maybe that's why it's sooo much more active. I see many of the used to be active members from here over there now, fully understand why. It's mostly bikes and mostly friendly.

Probably many; there are public FB groups, where anyone with an internet connection and a FB account can post, and private ones, where one has to be invited in. Often, there are groups that organize around interests, too.

I'm not a Facebookie myself, but I found this out because my village, just a mite over two thousand strong, has, between the village gummint's account, the village chamber of commerce's account, the accounts of five (no kidding) garden clubs,* the assorted literary groups, etc., etc., damned near as many FB groups as residents.

*The first rule of garden club is you don't talk about garden club--aw, sh!t, I broke it! Glad I'm not a garden clubber!

    I recanted several posts ago.

Then I started complaining that there is too much cycling content, not enough PO.

I have been on my bike, can't post and ride at the same time. I have over 3K for the season (on the road) and have ridden 40 of the past 41 days. It rained all day on July 15th. Missed a bunch of days in May and June dealing with my sister and her estate.
Been a good summer for riding for me.
    Of course I'm sure...that doesn't mean I'm right.....
