So, What Is It With People & Gravity?

Did I miss the mailer? Seems as though the news is filled with more than the usual number of folks falling from odd perches.

Maybe instead of grounding the Max8, we should be grounding cliffs, canyon rims and bell towers.

If Newton was wrong, lemme know cuz I've always dreamt of flying by flapping my feet.

One of those online news outlets said that selfie deaths have reached an epidemic level.
I lost my phone number. Can I have yours?

We prefer to refer to that as "culling stupid people" syndrome.

I will note that people die taking photos of other things. And looking at the sky, and listening to music while crossing the street, and all sorts of other reasons not in the news.

The world wide numbers are tiny, tiny, tiny.

But those stories are great clickbait.

Yes, excellent points. "Seems as though the news is filled with more than the usual number of . . ." does not quantitively prove the existence of a trend - more likely the result of selection bias on the part of both publishers and readers.

People sometimes fall down, as ever it was.

You may be right. Before the advent of video cameras, guys were prolly taking shots to the gnads for eons... right? It didn't become a source of world wide entertainment until you could fill an hour's worth of TV with them.

As a conservative Christian, I don't really believe in gravity.

It's a hoax cooked up by the liberal media.

Just 30 minutes ago I was walking to my car with a client and saw two young women in VERY revealing outfits taking photos of each other standing on the 3rd story wall of a parking garage.

I really wanted to hang around, to make sure they were being safe, but I needed to drive my client somewhere.

in the late 70s, I was a camping tour guide for Europeans in the western US.

while in the Grand Canyon, one of my clients was framing a shot with his camera and stepped off a ledge...dude fell 60 feet and landed in a contorted heap.

he didn't move for a couple of minutes, but before we could organize an attempt to reach him, he stood up and started to stumble around. altho he sustained some serious injuries, he wasn't able to be medivac'd out until the following day.

guy was hard-core, said he wanted to complete the trip...uhh, no.

I think gravity has gotten worse in recent years. When I was a kid and fell, I'd get right back up and keep going. Now that I'm middle-aged, if I fall I'm sore for days and might even have to go to a doctor. Gravity is changing for sure...and not for the better!

Gravity actually is increasing, but so is everything else. The substrate for our universe is expanding at three times the speed of light, which creates the matter and mass, and gravity, we experience in our universe. Further, gravity is actually a repulsive force. The effect we see is attraction. Counterintuitive, I know.

Is this why Cheetos keep getting hotter? First there were regular Cheetos then Flaming Hot Cheetos and now they have Xxtra Flaming Hot Cheetos. Will the madness never end???

The eggheads at the Large Hadron Collider unanimously chose to not delve into finding answers to this specific conundrum.

I launched a formal written protest. Apparently, they must have a scanner that automatically rejects any proposed experiments with the word "Cheetos" in the text.

In the meantime, I find blaming the substrate expanding at 3x lightspeed to be sort of an "end of story" to complaints about the ever-increasing heat of Cheetos and many other foibles of our illusory "projected" universe, if you will.

Yes. You may quote me and reference me in your scientific papers.
