Southeast Lowngers: Ready for Hurricane Dorian?

    It's currently a Cat 4, and just shy of a Cat 5 (150mph winds!).

Fortunately it's not supposed to make landfall until late in the week when it's weaker, but it will likely rake the coasts of Florida, Georgia, and both Carolinas. Oh, and the Bahamas are fooked.

Hope y'all are prepped, ready, and stay safe.

    Recent track (could change):

Monkhouse: I want to go like my Dad did – peacefully, in his sleep, not screaming in terror like his passengers.

System: Fake news?? Trump's a Fake President, for God's sake.

Plat: I'd rather fellate a syphilitic goat than own a Cervelo.

Homer: I believe that children are our future. Unless we stop them now.

Seam: Saw Bjork poop onstage back in the day. It blew my teenage mind

Sorry to hear it. But you are sounding more coherent/stronger. Hope it continues!

    Recent track (could change):

Category 5 with winds of 160MPH sustained, as of 0800 EDT. And the worst of it is going to run right over the Grand Bahama.

Trajectory is also levelling out a bit.

Yah, don't even know what GB Island is going to do... they're predicted to get 15'-20' of storm surge, but the majority of the island is 0'-15' in elevation.

    Mass evac?

They knew it was coming, at least, so had some warning.

I suspect like Hurricane Andrew re-carved the Florida Keys...Dorian is going to erase part of the Grand Bahama, or at a minimum defoliate it. The good and bad news, it is a small storm--and the worst of it is confined to a very small radius....which means anything in the path of the eyewall is mega-screwed.

Damn. 185MPH sustained and 910millibar...and has been holding it for 10 hours. Damn.

Also....Florida now back in play. NHC got the track pretty close, but damn did they underestimate this one initially.

Dear sweet Jebus H. Christ... Dorian's just SITTING on top of Grand Bahama Island and mercilessly pounding it. It's practically stationary.

    It's really bad over there.

Well, no SE Lowngers have posted, so Dorian must’ve done killed ‘em all.

RIP guys... we hardly knew ye.

Southeasterner here, Raleigh looks to be okay if it just hugs the coast--no need for a Fran redux around here let it decide to head back out to sea.

Southeaster here (south east Virginia). Cut some large branches down that were hanging over a corner of my house (should have done it a while ago). Will take bird feeders down Wednesday night.

Good luck, TMB and NotVintage. No one seems to know what this wacky unpredictable hurricane is gonna do next.

The good news: Dorian is now down to a Category 2, and has moved off of the Bahamas.

The bad news: Doesn't look it's going to weaken much more anytime soon, and the newer tracks have it cutting a bit closer to the Carolinas.

I ain't dead yet. Charlotte probably won't get a wheezy breath from this storm based on the wind maps.

Horrible --- but so far today no earthquakes in SoCal.

Yeah, you’re a couple hundred miles inland... so unless Dorian becomes a YOU-seeking hurricane, you’re probably okay.
