Is there a way to remotely disable WiFi transmitters?

i live in an apartment complex, and there must be a number of my neighbors who have WiFi internet transmitters.
i can tell, because when ever i turn on my AirPort, it detects about 15 to 20 different accounts.

is there any kind of machine i can buy that will permanently disable their wifi transmitters?

Are you talking about blocking them so you dont see them, or actually disabling their wifi, which would be illegal. You can set your machine so that it has a preferred network that is on. Just seeing the rest of them should do nothing to your computer. I can see most peoples on my block, but its no bother.

Can you click on it and then click "forget this network" maybe... otherwise, gpsser said the rest.

I can see many in my neighborhood. In fact I steel off any unsecured one if it gives me a better connection in certain parts of my house.

I'm not sure why you'd want to turn off free intertubes.

Yes, just get a nice sized electromagnetic pulse for the designated area, and you won't have to worry about WiFi for a while there.

Do you have a gas stove?

If so, go to Home Depot and get one of those electric timers. The kind you use to have a lamp turn on and off at a set time for when you're away from home. Get an old-fashioned light bulb, and carefully drill a small hole in the glass. Place the lamp in the kitchen, adjacent to your stove. Do not turn it on, but plug it into the timer, and set the timer to turn on an hour from when you wish to begin. Now blow out the pilot light and turn the oven on full blast and leave for someplace safe. An hour later, if fortune is yours, your apartment complex will have blown up and been consumed in flames, thereby rendering all those offending wifi transmitters kaput.

    You're welcome.

how come its not illegal to send your WiFi waves into someone else's private property?
i can't go into your home and pee on your furniture.

Better shut down all the nearby radio stations, TV stations, cell phone towers, two way radio towers, wireless alarm systems, weather radar, airport radar, and all your neighbor's cordless phones.

In short, WiFi radiation is not a problem.

Son, that's been going on for a long time. It's called television. Radio, too. Oh, and cell phones.

    Wow.

    Just.....wow.

Make sure you go outside, shake your fist at the sky, and yell at the satellites bombarding you with signals for everything from GPS to cell phones and cable.

If you're that concerned about imaginary foes like WiFi signals, an apartment complex is the WRONG place for you to be. I suggest the mountains of Montana. Build a cabin and write diatribes on your Royal typewriter.

I recommend lining the walls of your apartment in tinfoil. It takes more time and foil than a hat, but it is far less sweaty on the skull.

Put a real thick coat of lead base paint on all your walls, just don't eat any of the chips...

What ever happened to neighborliness? Go door to door and ask your neighbors to turn off their wireless routers. Easy.

You could build a faraday cage around your apartment.

Or, better yet, a faraday cage helmet! Protection on the go!

That is totally worthless advice. Is that something you read on the internet? Recall from a science class? You clearly know NOTHING about this issue whatsoever, and anyone who listens to you deserves what they get.

The TRUTH, I repeat TRUTH!!!! is that if you don't already have a cage, they've already got you.

Wait a minute.... maybe you DO know what you are talking about and are trying to ....

Why not eavesdrop on your neighbors browsing habits. Wifi is very insecure.
