    That time of year.

It's that time of year again. All the leaves are off the trees, so I went up on the roof and used the leaf blower to clean out the gutters. (much easier than doing it by hand). For the 38th time in a row, I didn't fall off and kill myself.

Maybe you did fall off and kill yourself but you don’t realize it yet.

I never could figure out why gutters, except at the entrance doors. I'd just take them off, done forever.

I've got three silver maples on the property that are loath to lose their last leaves before December 23rd, the day after the city stops picking them up.

At least the Emerald borer took care of my Ash trees and their leaves and only set my budget off by three years in paying for their removal (one actually fell (almost harmlessly) of its accord to the laws of gravity, three days before their scheduled date with a chainsaw and bucket truck)!!! Yay!

    Go for it.

One of our local housing Police's favorite target... Interesting to note that

A: local law does not require gutters on your garage unless
B: there is at least one gutter anywhere on your garage, therefore
C: either no gutters at all or full gutters

I'd rather have the gutter at ground level than roof level. Typical gutters (& downspouts) are ugly as **** anyway.

The older I get, the more 'pay someone else to do it' seeps in. The last time I cleaned my own gutters was when I owned a one story house almost 20 years ago. I hate heights. I'm still too cheap to pay someone to mow the lawn or clean the house.

Nice, but backsplash can be an issue.

I lucked out. It snowed last night. It melted on roads and driveways, within minutes, but it's still on the lawn and roof (good insulation).

Reminds me of that joke: if your parachute fails to open you have the rest of your life to fix it.

It depends on the design of splash surface.

But those who do prefer gutters and downspouts, here is an idea.

We moved to a townhouse with an HOA earlier this year.... I didn't miss mowing the lawn this summer and so far I haven't missed cleaning the gutters.

I do, however, miss the HOA fee every month but I think it might be worth it once the snow starts flying...

My gutters are all clogged up with pine needles. It doesn't matter because I live in SoCal.

My new house has a cool hatch from the attic onto the roof. I thought "sweet, easy to get up there and clean the gutters!". I went up there and chickened out - about 30 feet above the ground. Damn I'm an old geezer now.
