    Wednesday morning

    On Wednesday morning, my little sister died. She fought cancer 4 times, 4 different varieties. The last had metastasized to her bones. She is finally out of pain.

    I would like to quote one of my oldest, dearest friends.

    "My thoughts are with you and the family my brother, brother. Hope is more than a sister. She is an Aunt, a Great Aunt as well. Her waves have touched many shores. She will be missed but not ever forgotten. Rest in peace Hope."
    Of course I'm sure...that doesn't mean I'm right.....

    You are in our thoughts, we're not the praying types but know that we feel for you and hope that you and your family find peace and keep the good memories well above the pain of losing your sister. And as we say way too often F*** cancer.

    A long journey that ends with peace, knowing we are loved, that's something I am sure gave her much comfort.

    My most sincere condolences to you and your family at this difficult time.

    I'm sorry TOG, condolences.

    XXIII

    I REASON, earth is short,
    And anguish absolute.
    And many hurt;
    But what of that?

    I reason, we could die:
    The best vitality
    Cannot excel decay;
    But what of that?

    I reason that in heaven
    Somehow, it will be even,
    Some new equation given;
    But what of that?

    Sorry to hear that.

    My dad's younger brother died of brain cancer some years ago. He went to visit him for a few weeks near the end. He took the thing pretty hard. Take care of yourself.

    I'm sorry for your loss, T0G. You're right to take comfort in the simple fact that she is no longer in pain. That's the sad burden those who knew and loved her must now bear.

    The reason I posted here is that over the past 15 years, this place has become almost like the neighborhood hangout, a place to go to share with friends. A lot of us have been swapping stories for a long time now and the friendships I have made here are as real as friendships can get. I thank all of you for that. We started with bicycles in common and found over the years that we have far more than that. Ove the years, I have met and/or ridden with well more than 50 members and never been surprised once. We are as we appear.
    Of course I'm sure...that doesn't mean I'm right.....

    Sorry to hear about your sister. It's even tougher right now what with all the social distancing stuff going on. Cancer is a cruel beotch.

    We had a family gathering here today, my mom, our kids, my sister and Hope's fiancé and best friend. Social distancing, outside, good food, we prepared and individually packed for everyone. It was much needed. On the brighter side, my garage is cleaner than it has been since 1990 when I built it

    It is true. However in death, she beat cancer, it is no longer eating her body. She cut it off at the pass.
