Given his penchant for nicknames, and his aversion to reading, I've decided to shorten Donald J. Trump to it's essence: Dump*

How does one irreparably damage a cast-iron skillet?
More Americans wanted Hillary Clinton to be President than wanted Donald Trump.

Donald Trump has never had a wife he didn't cheat on.

I was at work yesterday to fix a customer's radio system. In the process, I discovered all 50 portable radios were programmed incorrectly.

I reprogrammed all the radios but the information our bench tech gave me to correct the problem didn't make sense. When I verified my work, I discovered the fix didn't work due to a misunderstanding between what the bench tech told me and how I understood him.

8 hours down the drain. My boss blames me. I'm returning today to hopefully fix the problem.

You owe it to everyone involved to program all those radios to boot up to Sirius XM porn radio.

    Exactly.

And it's pretty difficult to warp cast iron, so glad it worked out.

Exactly, just rub some dirt on it. It'll be okay.

    HTFU=cast iron skillet.

Scrub if needed, but likely just re-season it.

You ruined the finish, and now that has to be built back up again. But unless the surface is pitted, that just takes time and normal care.

    This.

Use it daily. It should be like new in 50 or 60 years.

I assumed my boss would follow through when, before I left for a week long vacation, I told him I was concerned that an engineer/CAD operator that was supposed to work on a project of mine wasn't doing so. Sure enough, I returned to find that not a f-ing thing was completed in my absence.

So now my budget is getting blown because three people are now scrambling to do the work one guy could have handled weeks ago and I'm waiting for my client to return my call to let her know we're behind schedule.

This is the first time in many years I've perused help-wanted ads.

That is sort of a bummer, the thing was slicker than 2 teflon pans.

On the 3rd salt scrub. Might be time to use a metal scraper.

hey, if you have to use a wire brush on the angle grinder, do it, won't hurt it, it will re-season. If it's not cracked it's still good. Hell I have left our 12 inch in a sink full of soapy water wor a day, looked awful. Scoured it with a stainless scrub pad, dried it on the burner (just not until it gets cherry red, lol) and put extra virgin olive oi in it and its fine, even pitting doesn't hurt them. Cast are the ONLY frypans we use (well wife will use stainless for tomato based sauces for enchiladas). The 8 and 12 inch live on the stove top.

If the radios were for Team Ineos, I hope that you leave them a little surprise for down the road. Would make for interesting watching come Tour time :O

Couple of things to try: For scraping off the ash residue, if there is any, you might try a rotary tool (drill, Dremel, or whatever) fitted with a wire brush, and/or some steel wool.

For reseasoning, the absolute best way I've found is to find a friend who has access to a deep fryer, and get them to pitch the (clean and dry) skillet in the fat for awhile. Then, wipe it off, and stick it in an oven for a bit. If you don't know anyone who works in a commercial kitchen, you can just wipe the skillet with oil, heat it up, and repeat as needed. It will take your pan to the same place, but it'll take longer, is all.

I have a cast iron kettl on the wood burner, been on a wood stove for the past 40 years. HEAVY, HEAVY, HEAVY! If I don't put water in it it gets up to 500 degrees easily. I will dump a gallon of cold tap water (straight out of the well) into it and with in 2 minutes it is at a rolling boil. Good cast iron is a dream come true!
