RBR had its 'salad days' time...the Lounge was a hoppin' place, complete with a 'cool kids club' and endless memes...

but, really...how many LOLcats 'can haz cheezburger' and other uber-tired BS comments can support an entire forum? the place was rife with lazy, repetitious crap...

then, some people took their ball and went to FB to be even 'cooler kids'...tried that venue a few times and it sucked balls.

make this place what you want it to be...it's on you.

Hardly "moderator bias, though it sure is easy to blame them anyway.

I think niche forums of all types are dying. I've been here a while, and other forums more than 20 years, and all of them have seen a sharp decline the last 5 years. Facebook, YouTube, and Reddit are pretty much the kings now.

I may have come to RBR "back in the day" to ask about how to true a wheel for instance, now the first place I'd go is YouTube, and see it done first hand.

I do miss the forums here though, and the old Lounge. I still have the original Lounge Jersey that is chock full of memes, most I can't even remember what they were for.

Hmmm....been considering opening a 'troll account' here just for the PO forum. I think the name "Jack Asserri" might work.....

Probably already taken. Every so often I post something on PO, only to almost immediately regret it.

As a Mod, why would you drag PO acrimony into what's left of the forums?

I donated the jersey to goodwill a while back. Still have a couple pairs of socks that make it through the rotation though.

Ran across a Team Collin button last night while cleaning up some old bike stuff. Hope the Marsh's are doing well these days.

It's what he'd good at... Not really a 'moderator', more of a defender of the bias if it's like the old days.

pretty much the crossover from PO and crap like this is what drove many away.

    Oh, snap.
Whenever the legislators endeavour to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people who are thereupon absolved from any further obedience, and are left to the common refuge which God hath provided for all men against force and violence - John Locke

Pretty much, but with the added power to enforce the bias by deleting posts and locking threads.

    .

Insult sans facts noted, along with the observation that certain posters routinely whine about "moderator bias" instead of looking to who controls their own keyboard.

If you think that PO is what's caused the decline in traffic, explain why other forum-oriented sites that don't have political sub-forums are also seeing declines in their traffic.

Or, you can just mod-bash, if that makes you feel more...accomplished.

Hilarious to see a bunch of far-righties whingeing on and on about the PO mods, when I, a center-leftie, incurred what was probably the longest temp-ban of all-time (over a month).

You guys just dont like it cuz the mods dont let you get away with too much... and cuz the libs there are feisty and actually fight back.

Oh well, go elsewhere if it hurts your feelings that much.

You should know as well as anyone, because I've walked you through this a number of times, that posts get deleted and threads locked because of posters making personal attacks (this is almost always the case), or mischaracterizing others' posts (i.e., "putting words in others' mouths"), deflecting discussions, or garden-variety trolling.

What does and doesn't fly is all spelled out in the PO rules.

If my personal attitude towards your political orientation were the driving force behind any sanctioning, you'd have a lot fewer posts in PO than the thousands you've typed.

There are also some RBR posting rules, too, somewhere on the site.
