    Hi,

Your tagline/sig caught my eye and triggered some recollection. I Googled it and found "Little Gidding." Amazing. Thanks for the trigger....;-).

I especially liked (and remembered) these lines:

Not known, because not looked for
But heard, half-heard, in the stillness
Between two waves of the sea.
    Quick now, here, now, always--
    A condition of complete simplicity
    (Costing not less than everything)
And all shall be well and
All manner of thing shall be well
When the tongues of flames are in-folded
Into the crowned knot of fire
And the fire and the rose are one.

    (Emphasis mine.)

Seriously, If you are ever near here, do message me. I would love showing this to anyone.
If you take away the crap weather and roads in the spring and the fall mornings when you need a jacket... 5 months doesn't always happen. April 15 to Sept 15th with no real guarantee that there isn't going to be snow and 45F and colder temps. Thats alright with me, I can dress to be warmer, but I can only get so nakid in the summer till its a misdemeanor.
Nordic skiing is what I do in the winter. There is a well maintained ski parc 600yards across a bay. Until I see Ice fishing shacks, I have to ride the road around the bay. My main winter ride is a Nashbar steel MTB frame cheaply singlespeeded and a BMX handle. I don't get on my cross bike until pavement shows up.
A chance may pop up, even if its to swing thru here and squeeze a ride in. Google map Colton and zoom until you see Stark/Joe indian/White hill on the southern edge of civilization. Would love to show anybody.

Thanks. 50+ miles with some big hills sounds great, but I'll probably never get the time. I know where Colton is, almost up there on the St. Laurence. I get to other parts of upstate N.Y. pretty often (kids went to Syracuse and RIT, one son lives in Rochester now, and I have a friend who lives in the southern Adirondacks). But the only time I've traveled up your way was when my daughter (music major) auditioned at SUNY Potsdam (she ended up going to school in an even colder place, Minnesota).
I'll bet you have nice riding during the 5 months when it's not winter ;-) What do you do to keep in shape in winter? My Schroon Lake pal snowshoes and skis all the time.
