So I really enjoyed the ride today. Well, maybe all but the last 20 miles, lol. The town of Carmel is really impressive in how it is being built up, very cool and chill. Reminded me of what a flat Boulder would be.

The ride is well organized, now having World Gran Fondo status. The course is well-marked, support is a bit lacking. The rest stops are not very good, with little more than water, Gatorade, crackers, and some bananas and Clif bars. The volunteers were helpful and friendly, but if you want to take your event to the next level, the rest stops need to be improved.

The pre- and post-festivals are wonderfully stocked by terrific local and national sponsors. This ties in to the vibe of Carmel, so it's a logical progression for the ride. The town is also extremely bike-centric.

Overall I would recommend this ride. Trying to stay at the front and run a sub-4 will be a challenge, but forgoing all but one rest stop will almost guarantee a sub-5 hour finish.
