Columbus Day is also a federal holiday, though anti-immigrant forces fought mightily against the encroaching influence of the Catholics who supported it.

    Donald Trump is a Catholic.

Maybe those Know-Nothings did know something after all.

    Cf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columb...s_celebrations
More Americans wanted Hillary Clinton to be President than wanted Donald Trump.

Donald Trump has never had a wife he didn't cheat on.

Yes. America gives everyone the day off to celebrate the German feast of the winter solstice.

As a long time Pastafarian I look forward decorating the Holiday tree. It is nice to see so many big companies embracing the Holiday

So now since the dow is dipping and some experts are suggesting a better than 75% chance of recession in 2020 the OP has decided to make this thread about Xmas. Dow futures were down another 250 this morning and bonds are showing signs of coming recession.

The yield inversion is just one more sign of the war on Christmas perpetrated by the elites!

I can't recall a recession that was so widely predicted. Typically when there's consensus in the market it does the opposite.

Yup, and I can't recall going into a recession with so much debt and so little ammo to fight it.

Aren't there forums to go frequent where everyone else has bizarrely distorted views of reality?

Gonna go out on a limb and say that most adults who are enthusiastic about bicycles are not going to be "conservative" nutjobs who like lax gun laws and keeping Others in their place and are okay with a serial rapist in the White House and gave up on the NFL because some guy had the nerve to take a knee.

Why not go play with similarly warped people. It would be GREAT if you would do that.

    Depends on the segment.

If you watch the Classic/Vintage sub-forum of BikeForums you'll see pro-Trump innuendo parroted all the time.

The reality is the cycling culture will mimic the general political makeup of the country ... I know the club I ride with has a wide mix from ultra liberal to ultra conservative. Most try and not talk politics on the rides, just keep it to cycling.

Many are gun owners, many follow prosperity preachers, many support Trump.

Makes for an awkward ride sometimes when people start talking politics.

Still waiting to hear from the OP who Americans should thank for the current swoon in the market... Obama? Clinton? And yes, the market direction is because of more shitty economic news.

Inverted yield curve, the DOW is currently down 770 points(!!) on the day, and more and more experts think we’re in for a recession in the next 12 months.

    So... much... WINNING, right Donnie?

Cue the Presidential ‘pass the buck’ tweets blaming everything on Powell, even though dumb Donnie is the one who hired him.

    The FOMC has acted appropriately.

The fact of the matter is that the trade war is the primary reason the bond market is flashing red alert.

Which, of course, is brought to you by the moron in the oval office.
