Good news/Bad News: Senate votes to keep on reading your email

Bad News...the strangely named "Freedom Act" would have rolled back NSA powers a bit but didn't get cloture.

Good News...The NSA powers are on a time clock to expire next year...which odds are our freedom-loving GOP controlled congress will just green light the bill next year and re-authorize all the Patriot Act provisions anyway

NSA spying bill stalls in Senate vote

So no matter how you look at it, the P as in People won. Or lost. Or both. Feels good to be a winner don't it?

The Dems had years to take care of this, so it looks to me like they are on the same side as the Reps.

Maybe someday the people will figure out they are being played and finally start voting for someone who will actually make a difference.
Whenever the legislators endeavour to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people who are thereupon absolved from any further obedience, and are left to the common refuge which God hath provided for all men against force and violence - John Locke

They have - it's OK to read the emails of whistle blowers who report things negative to the administration but they won't investigate leaks which paint the administration is a positive political light such as disclosure that Seal Team Six was responisble for OBL's demise or Obama's kill list.

The Holder DOJ is politically selective in pursuit of these cases.

    How did Rand Paul vote?
I am 100% convinced the internet and social media are not the salvation to human civility.

that's right. republicans and democrats have supported the government's practice of spying on private citizens who have committed no crimes.

yep the GOP brought us the Patriot act (what a name for it) and the DNC folks liked it so they kept it....there is no party looking out for your actual freedom.
