The New Bush Plan on climate change
W has supposedly seen the climate change light and now wants to stop growth in US greenhouse gas emissions by 2025.

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/04/...ate/index.html

But really, does anyone for a second believe that this is anything other than a Bush Lie about wanting to do anything other than the OPPOSITE of what he says? In the absence of any proposed legislation from him, isn't he really just trying to hinder the application of current laws that are being used to curtail greenhouse gas emissions? Regardless of whether or not you believe the Global Climate Change issue, isn't Bush just being dishonest about what he wants to happen? Shouldn't he just say that he wants no limits now, and propose legislation to block application of current laws?

As I recall, he was also going to send a manned mission to Mars.

And...and he is going to stuff that shuttle full of green house gases...thus killing two birds with one stone.

Leveling off CO2 emissions in 2025 would not be much of an accomplishment:
US CO2 emissions from 2026-2030 are projected to increase by only 0.84% per year. So stabilizing at 2025 levels is not an ambitious goal, given the small rate of increase projected to be occurring for the US at that time.
I liked this take on it:
BERLIN (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush's plan to halt a rise in U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 could undermine, rather than support, efforts to combat climate change, German Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel said.

"Gabriel criticizes Bush's Neanderthal speech" was the title of a news release from the Environment Ministry on Thursday.
    ...
"The motto of his speech is: losing instead of leading," said Gabriel, a Social Democrat in conservative Chancellor Angela Merkel's coalition government.
