Paul Revere Says!..The British are cut and running The British are cut and running!

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/...ops/index.html

Suppose it might be too much to ask since it went so well in Basra that they come over to Bagdad and lend a hand to their American friends?

Blair to Bush..."Ummm let me get back to you on that."

You work and slave at thread titles with the hopes that someone will give just a modicum of praise for your morning's labor.

You're sayin' the poodle is off his leash?? Wonder why he hates America?

The irony here is that this is one of the countries that cobbled together "Iraq" in the first place, planting the seeds of the mess we're in now.

Great minds really do think alike. I saw that article yesterday and your response was the first thing that came to my mind as well. I hope that doesn't scare you,

    That is a little scary!

Actually, what Blair is doing isn't comparable at all to Murtha's immediate withdrawal plan that "cut and run" refers to.

My concern nowadays is that any reduction of forces without an absolute absence of sectarian violence will be dubbed "cutting and running".

No offence intended, TMB, however from the article you reference:

"n a statement to lawmakers in the House of Commons, Blair said the UK's coalition contingent based in Basra would be reduced in the coming months -- but only if Iraqi security forces could secure the southern part of the country.

"The actual reduction in forces will be from the present 7,100 -- itself down from over 9,000 two years ago and 40,000 at the time of the conflict -- to roughly 5,500," Blair said."

Ah crap, gotta go. More in a few hours (assuming I get a lunch break today)

If we promise to call it "Victory" and throw a big ticker-tape parade for the returning soldiers will you feel better about it?

What if we leave with the violence at a similar (all time high?) or worse level then it is now?

It may even be for the best if we get out sooner than later. At some point it is likely that a Shia led government is going to have to adopt terror tactics (like Saddam used) to quell the Sunni insurgency.
