By the way (as Ed goes, the pandemic goes) ...

I've been too spaced out to read my normal 77 daily websites and keep cable news running in the background all day. Is THIS slant getting any play today?

Yeah, I've been hearing that the flu strain is mild. People have gotten this flu and they've recovered just like they would from any other flu. I don't know what the big whoop is about.

Here's encouraging news for old codgers:

Ralph Tripp, an influenza expert at the University of Georgia, said that his early analysis of the virus' protein-making instructions suggested that people exposed to the 1957 flu pandemic -- which killed up to 2 million people worldwide -- may have some immunity to the new strain.

That could explain why older people have been spared in Mexico, where the swine flu has been most deadly.
There ya go about this flu striking young and middle aged people hardest. Hell, I'm ditching my face mask, and gonna take a bike ride.
