    1953 TdF
Since there's a bit of a lull in the cycling calendar, I thought I'd share this vid I stumbled across. Just eight years after WWII you can still see the aftermath in some of the shots.

And the eleventh stage to the Tourmalet starts at 31:20. This was the first year of the green jersey.

Louison Bobet won, though with controversy as he was a last minute addition to the French national team. Several teammates refused to work for him, and the French squad was split into two. After Jean Robic won the stage to the Tourmalet, Bobet and his team isolated Robic on stage thirteen and would ultimately take teh yellow jersey.

One name you may recognize, Gino Bartali, winner in 1938 and 1946 finished eleventh.

Love it. Thanks for posting. Great footage. Love the music. And isn't it amazing how little the sport has changed? It is still fundamentally the same sport.

Outstanding. 129 hours in the saddle over 22 stages concluding with a 204 miles finale.
