    DC-Florida-DC

How we have been spending our weekends lately.

Getting a little skitzo here but the riding is all good.

BTW if you didn't guess already, this is DC.

Of course there is more to do in Florida besides ride and eat.

And we intend to do it.

can never get enough views of cypress bay heads, kayaks and bicycles are the perfect way to explore "real" Florida. looks cold in DC, why dont you stay here awhile?
you might as well have gone to Taco Bell and had a Zima while dropping a blotter and snorting Tabasco. OMFG. ~ttug

'Cause riding in fresh falling snow (which is what I did this morning) is sublime for this kid who grew up in Samoa and Hawaii.

Plus we both have good paying DC jobs that we have a lot of years invested in.

OTOH retirement is just around the corner and we do enjoy Florida Winters........

What's with the shot of MissM in the building, looking down at a shopping mall? Is that the tallest building in central FL? ;-)

Brodus' ribs are some of the best I've ever had....anything they do with BBQ is hard to beat. Just down the road from Clermont.

Can't be much more than 5 miles from the house. We had the Pulled Pork and WILL be going back.

Makes me hungry just seeing it on the plate. Go early, when what they have cooked is gone, they close for the day.

That is the Citrus Tower in Clermont-just about the highest thing in Florida. It is amazing how far away you can see the tower.

It is also pretty cool to compare the old pics from the tower with nothing but Orange Groves as far as you could see to all the subdivisions there now. It seems the freezes in the 1980's wiped out most of the growers who then either moved south and/or sold out to developers.

I went to the Mike Walden school back in 1993. It was north of Orlando and the shot of Miss M climbing the hill reminded me of the rides we took each day. One particular ride went to a big loop that looked just like the terrain you show. It was a course that had been used in the FL state championships a bunch of times with a multi-tiered climb followed by a screaming descent and then start over. We rode to the course, did as many loops as we wanted while timed, and then had a lunch break before riding back. It was 40 miles to get to the loop so we ended up with around 130 for the day. I got my money's worth even if a 75 year old man was yelling me on the climbs.
