I didn't go last year, but a number of friends did and I put together a recap based on their experiences:

Hincapie Gran Fondo Recap | SteepClimbs.com

I'm tentatively going to ride this year. We are riding the Blue Ridge Parkway in 6 days on 10/5-10/11, so it depends how I feel afterward.

    Maybe I'll see you there.

SteepClimbs: Thank you for the recap and the link! I am getting over a foot injury, and I had a 40 mile ride on Sunday as a test. Things are looking up, so I am hopeful! I hope you can make it this year as well!

That's great, but the real question is will Ted Nugent be riding?

Did I read that entry form correct? $215 on the day of event?
For roads we can ride on any day?

Does seem a bit pricey. Even the pre-register. I'm still on the fence... I've never done a Grand Fondo, the route is great (checked out the three main climbs a couple months ago), but the price is high. Jersey seems ok, but not really needed. I'm sure it will be well supported and it would be cool to see some pro riders out there.

That's a good idea, are you local?
If so, we could pick the week before to give the people riding it a recon ride and have it unsupported and bill it as the PBGF...Po' Boy Gran Fondo.

Gran Fondo Hincapie is this Saturday: Gran Fondo Hincapie

Weather forecast looks great, if maybe a bit chilly, leaves should be at peak color. And from what I've been seeing on the website and Facebook, it looks like they've gone all-out to make this year's event even better than last year's. Can't wait! Now that I know the climbs, and with the wheels that Darryl (wheelwerks.us) built for me, I'm looking to take some significant minutes out of my time from last year. There is same-day registration, so it isn't too late to join the crowd!

Myself and a few others ( even one from RBR ) pre-rode the course this past week. Although we cut out the 20 mile Green River Cove loop, great times were had by all.
Hope everyone has a good time.

It was a cold cold morning, but eventually warmed up. How did everyone like the ride? I had some cramping issues that I fought multiple times, but finished. Howard's Gap is a beast!!! Beer after the ride was perfect and the food wasn't too bad either. Volunteers were great, the course was well marked, and rest stops were good.

So who's doing it this year?
It's in 3 more weeks I think...Wish they moved it up a little, I'm losing fitness by mid-October.

I'd love to do it but finances are preventing me.
Should be a good one, hope everyone has a great ride.

After my ride on Skyline drive today in Virginia, I'm concerned. I only did 4,000 feet of climbing and I suffered. I blame it on the rain, wind and fog. That's okay right?
