    Question Mt. Lemmon Tucson questions

Going to go up with a coupla other good riders and was wondering:

How much water do you usually take?
Is it prudent to take a jacket or vest for the return?

Thanks in advance for any advice

My answer to both of your questions would depend on the time of year and time of day. Assuming you are going soon, I would typically take three bottles if I am going to the top - although I could usually make do with only two except on the hottest days. There is water at the Palisades Ranger Station near milepost 20 (right side of the road near the rest rooms), but nothing lower. You could also refill in Summerhaven or Ski Valley near the top.

As far as taking a vest of jacket, that depends on how early in the day you think you will start the decent. If you start at 6am, take 3hrs going up, and turn right around, that would mean you would be descending at 9am and the temp is probably going to be in the low to mid 60s. Throw in the possibility of some rain and personally I would want something warmer than just a jersey. (I say that but never seem to follow that advice myself - and have suffered through a couple of very cold decents in the past. Thankfully it is over relatively quickly.)

    Enjoy the ride!
