    25mm wide vs 20.8 wide

    Will there be any diff?
I have Shimano c24 was thinking of getting the new Ardennes 25mm wide
Is there any benefit or just throwing away money to buy something new?
    Thanks

The difference will be that your tire will be wider in profile and lower in height. Some claim great benefits in ride while others say any differences are quite subtle. The argument is that the wider tire profile caused by the wider rim allows a better tire shape for cornering and lower pressure needed to prevent pinch flats. How significant any of this is appears to be in the eyes of the beholder.

Wider rims can give you small enhancements in ride quality, but it won't revolutionize your ride.

    Agree:

Ride quality improves similarly to going up a size in tire if your avail yourself of the ability to run lower pressure a like amount.

Profile of the tire is actually higher (infinitesimally) with a wider rim.

Tracking during corning is improved with a wider rim as the contact patch is more positively supported (reduces light-bulb cross section).
    ... 'cuz that's how I roll.

What we've seen as a pattern is that generally the bigger the rider, the more difference they seem to notice.

The other thing not mentioned is that the wider rim has the ability to produce a more aerodynamic profile, however just because a rim is wider does not mean that it automatically is a more aero profile.

Good comments here, level headed and to the point. The OP should also keep in mind that he is currently riding one of the best clinchers on the market. Potential small enhancements from a wider rim profile might be offset by the potentially superior construction and execution of the C24 wheels.

Just got a Powertap/Belgium + rear wheel. Other wheelsets are Fulcrum Racing Zero (21mm outer width) and BHS C472w/Novatex (23 mm).

My "25mm" Veloflex Corsa measured 23.4mm on the Fulcrum, 24.7mm on the C472w and 26.5mm on the Belgium+

*perceived* difference is that the bike feels more on rails with the Belgium + than the Fulcrum. The little (and big) imperfections on the road do not throw the wheel side to side so much with the new setup.
