    My eBay Wheel Build

I decided to upgrade the drive train of my beach cruiser at low cost but with decent quality. I named it eBay Drive Train since these are all bought from eBay at bargain price. Parts are mishmash of Sun Ringle CR-18 rims, Sram, Koozer hubs (Chinese brand), TRP disc brakes, KMC chain, generic spokes & ... etc.

Wheel build went smoothly and it rolls smoothly as well. I rode it for 2 weeks now and the brakes are better that what came with my beach cruiser (low end Shimano disc brakes). Koozer hubs are better than I expected from $70 for front & rear. The sound is that of fancy ones costing 10 times more. Sram 8 speed grip shift and rear derailleur work better than what came with my beach cruiser (cheap Shimano 6 speed). All in all, I'm happy with this small investment (just under $400 without tires + my labor).

Pictures of parts and wheels finished.

Road tires on a beach cruiser? Interesting concept.

That was a temp tire. I just bought a 2.125" Maxxis DTH tire (very good) and installed at the front. I'll post additional photos soon.

My beach cruiser is one of those so called Chopper Cruiser and the front wheel was to be a copy of chopper motorcycle like this which the front tires is thin and rear tire is wide. It's a Schwalbe Marathon 1.5" but I didn't like the quality (lack of suppleness & traction) so I let go of that thin front tire idea and picked up Maxxis DTH 2.125" tire. The result? "Why didn't I do this before!" Much more supple and sticky.

Also, I'm liking this cheap Koozer hubs from eBay. Hard to beat the price and features.
